ATP pens are designed specifically for measuring contamination on surfaces. As you know wherever food residue is present, there is a risk of microbial contamination. While culture tests can detect the presence of microorganisms, ATP tests also detect the presence of food residues and therefore provide a more complete indicator of risk.
